See to me that's just stupid, as it's still a checkbox. There is no grammatical/structural reason to call it a "switch" just for PRESENTATIONAL ;purposes.

Making role in that case basically a glorified class. At which point, use a class or style off the parent to say WHY it's different, not what it looks like.

That's my problem with a lot of recent crap being done, especially coming from the WAI and WCAG. They're putting screen appearance and screen concepts ahead of actual accessibility and trying to shove them at user-agents that flat out shouldn't even be TRYING to convey that PRESENTATIONAL information.
