People don't take wrestling -- as a business -- seriously enough. WWE has a market cap of over 8 billion dollars. Historically it has been the most consumed form of entertainment in the media. Even when black and white TV was new local wrestling broadcasts were the top watched shows in their market.

The "monday night wars" being the pinnacle of this. How many shows TODAY can claim to have back-to-back week after week 4 or 5 shares of the market? FFS when Nitro didn't air in '99 WWF Raw pulled in a 8.1!

And it's why today with their PG-13 nonsense and business mismanagement it's sad to see the ratings in the toilet. I had hoped AEW would provide sufficient competition for WWE to up their game, but it's just not happening.

Partly because audiences are sick of the top of the card being the same three or four guys. NOBODY wants to see Roman vs. Brock AGAIN!
