Whilst I mostly agree, I still say that one should try to avoid serif fonts when you can on screen media. Whilst some fonts are acceptable, particularly at larger sizes on more modern high PPI displays, conventional displays at conventional (1 rem default of 16px or smaller) sizes lack the pixel density for the glyphs to form clearly.

It's why for a long time the mantra was "Serif is for print, sans-serif is for screen".

That's changing, but it's still something to keep in mind.
