META tags are not a "line of CSS", not one legitimate UA gives a flying purple fish about "author", and most of the opengraph stuff other than og:image is BS too since they'll fall back on the traditional ones if not present. Thus why og:description, og:keywords, and og:title are pretty much bandwidth wasting garbage.

Also there are more search engines out there than just Google. Did you know worldwide that Google is in fact #3 behind Baidu and Yandex?
