It bothers me after seven or eight years of such a heading being the exact opposite of why SECTION exists, they up and decided headings should be there.

Lands sake, the entire purpose of SECTION was to be an alternative to numbered headings. Otherwise it’s just a glorified DIV.

But then a lot of changes in HTML 5 the past three to four years have been as dumbass as the garbage that was removed a decade ago when the W3C adopted it. See the dumbass HGROUP tag that proved the people making HTML didn’t know enough about numbered headings to be making 4 Strict’s successor in the first place.

I mean seriously, since numbered headings mark the start of sections and subsections, why the hell do we need a SECTION tag if not for when we don’t want such headings? If the numbered heading is mandatory in SECTION, there’s no reason to have SECTION. Just use a DIV at that point as then it’s a pointlessly redundant tag!

But then HTML 5 LOVES it’s idiotic pointless redundancies. Just look at AUDIO, VIDEO, and EMBED. A 180 degree course change from what 4 Strct was trying to accomplish.
