Honestly, if you're saying @media print or screen in your stylesheet, you've failed to divine the purpose of CSS in the first place much less how to use <link> properly... and I've said that for over a decade.

Same reason 99% of the time you see <link> or <style> without a meaningful media="" or set to media="all", you're looking at those pesky 3i of web development. Ignorance, incompetence, and ineptitudue. Just like how 90%+ of the time you see style="" the same applies.

Which as always basically means every single example from monuments to 3i like W3Schools, Bootcrap, Failwind, etc.

Also, there's no such thing as a sidebar tag, and no don't replace that with aside since sidebars are PRESENTATIONAL concepts that might not even be a "sidebar" at all widths. :D
