?Heh, another reply where someone says "your not the jur" or some such.
Because most people don't know the famous general was the junior. Senior (his grandfather) was a Colonel in the Civil War. It gets confusing with there being II's, III's, Jr's and IV's involved.
For some reason if you include the "jr" In "General George S. Patton Jr." people seem to laser focus on that and try to use it.
As to the rest, Honestly, as a New Englander I think there is something seriously wrong with people who can't handle a little salt in their language. But then I grew up on "Yah cahnt geht theyah frum heeya" and everything being "Wicked pissah". You can even find it in our humor.
Wareham? Needham? Dedham? Effingham!
Thus the "joke" that really isn't. If you've got a problem, In the American south-land they greet you with a fake plastered on smile, a shower of platitudes, and then send you on your way with little more than the dipshit mental masturbation that is thoughts and prayers. In New England we insult you to your face, dissect every mistake you've ever made, then give you the shirt off our backs.
A bit of an exaggeration, but it often feels true. Thanks to my regionalisms whenever someone is exceedingly polite and doesn't lace in a little bit of attitude, I automatically assume they're trying to pull a fast one.
As a friend of mine from Dirty Wu would say, "Ya gaht a freekin' problem wit dat?" I swear he's like a cross between Joe Pesci and Bill Burr.
