But it is often malicious. It's what I'm always saying about how we've spent the past 40 years promoting sociopathic narcissism as a virtue, and empathy as a mortal sin.
And the imitation? Blindly copying without comprehenision is a disease infecting software development as a whole. This is made even worse by bandwagon. The lame, unjustified and delusional behavior that because "everyone else" is doing it, there's nothing wrong with it. That's ignorant, stupid, and the type of thing a mother should take their child to task for.
"If all the other lemmings go running off a cliff..."
That said, a LOT of things are "stupid". Idiotically so making people work harder, not smarter. The problem is that the most incompetent garbage fitting that description -- JQuery, Bootcrap, Failwind -- are media darlings where people will believe every single lie -- like being "easier" or "better" -- because, well... as I'm always quoting: "Wizard's First Rule".
"People are stupid. They will believe a lie becuase they want it to be true, or are afraid that it's true."
The picture of a church altar for this article being highly appropriate. You want the world's biggest den of lies, exploitation of gullibility, and people believing falsehoods out of bandwagon, fear, and wanting something to be true irregardless of the truth, it's hard to find a better hive of scum and villiany.
